Designing in this modern society, rich in its history and cultural diversity means understanding the key challenges in finding the essence of its architecture. Our built heritage has eroded through time with foreign built typologies, capitalist designs as well as the rapid global technological advancements ravaging through our urban cities. It has erased the collective consciousness of what our countries architectural heritage really is. To design, we must be mindful of this lost heritage, but at the same time providing innovation and bringing care to the architectural design. The connections to our senses must be re-established, if not, heightened, for our architectural future will be nothing more of an aide to dystopia. My approach looks at the study of minimalism, architectural phenomenology and a thorough understanding of materials and construction, in order to achieve what I believe is true architecture.
