With headquarters located on the estuary of the Westerscheldt river in Breskens (the Netherlands), the company employs about 4,500 professionals in offices around the world and on board a diverse fleet of approximately 170 vessels. Vroon is active - through various subsidiaries and under different brand names - in the following business segments: livestock carriers; offshore-support vessels; offshore installation, maintenance and engineering services; dry-cargo vessels; container vessels; product/chemical tankers; asphalt/bitumen tankers; car carriers and vessel-management services.


The company is privately held by the Vroon family and currently managed by its fourth generation. Founded in 1890, the company originally exported agricultural products to England, France and Belgium while importing coal into the Netherlands. However, after World War II the company recognised the opportunities in transportation and changed its focus from trading commodities to owning and managing vessels.

In 2015 the company joined the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). MACN is a global business network working towards the vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enables fair trade to the benefit of society at large.
