Singapore Hobby Supplies started business in 1966 when our founder, Johnny Yong, imported the first Futaba radio system. The company was incorporated as Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd in 1972.

Back then, Johnny built his first single-channel radio, then went on to build and fly his first single channel model with an AM-15 diesel engine. His passion for flying has kept him at it ever since.

Our vision

Johnnys vision was to provide local modelers with a range of comprehensive R/C hobby supplies. This led him to introduce reputable brands such as Futaba, OS, Hirobo, Hinode, KO-Digiace, Kalt, Kyosho, Marutaka, Enya, MK, OK Model, Yoshioka, IM, TKD, Tettra, YS engines and most recently, DJI. I sell what I would use on my own model? is one of the founding principles of Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd. Johnnys joy was in seeing fellow modelers succeed in the hobby by using the ?right products.

Providing high quality and the ?right products was not enough for Johnny. He wanted to do what he could to help Singapore produce World Class R/C pilots. That was why Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd started to support many Singapore pilots who aspired to be in that league. Johnny, together with a few other pioneer R/C pilots, made their first attempt at regional competitions in 1980 in Thailand, which was probably the first Asia F3A competition. This was followed by the next F3A championship in 1982 held in China. These competitions were held before FAI recognized what is today known as CAOCC (?Combined Asia Oceanic Continental Championship).

Support competitions and communities
With the experience gathered during the first few F3A competitions, Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd started importing and introducing competition models and products. Today, there are over 10 pilots in Singapore who have taken part in both F3A and F3C regional and world competitions. Johnny himself took part in the FAI F3A world championship in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997,1999 and 2001, sometimes as competitor, other times as supporter and team manager.

Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd has also supported initiatives to send our pilots to the manufacturers factories. The first such training was conducted by Hirobo, and 2 Singaporean F3C pilots visited the Hirobo factory. They brought along their own Hirobo helicopters and received valuable tips from the Hirobo team pilots there.

Over the years, Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd has also build up a team of pilots in the company as well as sponsorship pilots to bring R/C modeling to new heights. Frederick Yong is now actively involved in the operations of the business, and is also an avid F3A pilot. He has participated in the 2001 F3A World Championship as well as 1998 and 2002 CAOCC. Ronald Yong is another member of the team who is also an avid helicopter pilot and trains new pilots at the flying field. He has also participated at the Hirobo Cup in Cebu, Philippines in 2007, FAI F3C World Championship as a Singapore Pilot in Indiana-Muncie, USA in 2009, China-Beijing F3K Meet in 2011 and 2012, F3K SCSA Open 2014 in Guangzhou, F3K China Open 2015 in Shanghai-Yungchenghu.

Today, Singapore Hobby Supplies Pte Ltd carries over 60 brands of products to meet the growing needs of modelers. We are committed to support competitors and competitions both in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region. We also continue to support our local R/C communities, people who share the passion for.
