We had a conversation over dinner one night about the desire to someday work together towards leading creative and meaningful lives. That was in 2008, when Hani was still working in the fashion industry and I was about to enter business school. Over the years, Fictive Fingers was simply an idea as we explore various mediums, learn new concepts and sharpen our skills in the midst of our day jobs.

In 2013, we decided to devote ourselves full time to Fictive Fingers. We realised the need for products that bring attention to the lack of sensibility. Products should make people think and feel something. When I put a plant into a handmade pot, I'd think of the maker throwing the clay in the workshop then imagine the pot taking shape as the drumming sound of the potter's wheel come to stop. When I look at the plastic pot the plant was originally in, I think of nothing.

Everyday life is often referred to the dull routine of daily existence but we believe that it's in the everyday that we truly embrace our individuality, with all of its flaws. That's why we design products that weave seamlessly into everyday life by harmonising the appreciation for quality textiles with traditional methods. Products that give freedom for self-expression. Products that evoke a sense of comfort from knowing they were made with care and time. Products that are part of the solution, antidote to an impersonal world.
