CRAMOIL ? A CAPSULE HISTORY

It was in 20th September, 1982 that Cramoil first began operations in Singapore. We started our Business as a Dealer in Lubricants, Chemicals and Petroleum products for major oil companies like BP, Mobil and Caltex, and conducted our business from a shophouse in Serangoon Road. However, the bulky chemicals drums and storage tanks were stored at a warehouse in Lorong Halus, Tampines. In 1984 we shifted our shophouse to UBI Industrial Estate and we conducted our business there till 1987.

In 1987, the decision was made to lease a parcel of land from the government and in February, 1989, the factory was completed with capital intensive investments like underground storages, warehousing, blending facilities, plants and machineries. In 1988, another decision was taken to invest in a factory in Peninsular Malaysia under its subsidiary Cramoil Malaysia SDN BHD which was set up in 1985 to market our own brand of blended petrochemicals and Lubricants in Peninsular Malaysia.

In the same year on 08 August, 1988 Cramoil Singapore Pte Ltd was set up to handle all marine activities like the supply of degreasers and marine bunkers using our own ship.

In 1997, the management of Cramoil decided to invest another S$10.8 million in upgrading its present service range by building toxic waste incineration plant at Tuas hazardous zone. Subsequently, a waste water treatment plant was included in the complex.

In 2004 Cramoil Holding Pte Ltd and Cramoil Chemical Corporation Pte Ltd was established as an investment arms (in line with our companys vision) to stretch our cleaning chemical activities to other ports and to expand our toxic waste management expertise to major Asian countries.

Over the years, Cramoil have grown into a reliable specialist/supplier in the petrochemical industry with current export markets in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Rotterdam, Taiwan, China and India. Today we make and sell more than 200 petroleum and chemical products. We had now firmly established ourselves as a key player in the toxic waste management business.

Cramoil have formed a consortium with a number of foreign contractors who tender for tank cleaning assignments for ships which are anchored at other sea ports across the globe. These consortium contractors would use Cramoils cleaning chemicals/solvents and they would provide the manpower and equipment to clean the tanks. Likewise, when ships (commercially linked to other consortium contractors) anchored at Singapore or Malaysian ports they could get Cramoil to supply the cleaning chemicals/ solvents.

In Singapore, Cramoils main customers are the oil majors petrochemical companies, shipowners, shipyards, pharmaceutical and drugs manufacturers, various government departments health care establishments and airlines.
