This business Racing Technik was founded in Melbourne, Victoria in 1989 by brothers Raymund and Dean Ong. As the venture grew, it was officially renamed also known as in October 1994. With a modest beginning in Toorak, and working from a 100m2 office/store, it was originally founded to support the active club racer with on board electronic management systems, suspension and road dynamic preparation, intake and exhaust enhancements, etc. Organizing frequent advance driver track days and driver training skid courses, the business provided a unique service to its clients.

With only a handful of ?speedshops in Melbourne, none of which offered anything similar, it was only a matter of time before a larger work space was needed. In March 1996 the business moved into a 300m2 workshop on busy Malvern Road, Prahran. With the addition of new tools and equipment, this new workshop made it possible for to perform most automotive upgrades inhouse. Within a year, the business was an authorised reseller of Falken tyres, Apexi, Autronic engine management, Koni suspension, etc, as well as being the Victorian distributor of Sachs sport suspension and Racing Dynamics products. In addition, had developed its own line of sports induction (air filter/intake) & short shift kits, performance brake pads and disc rotors.
